I live in northwest Houston, Texas very near my sister-in-law. Our respective houses are in-line with the landing path for Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). I often watch planes as they fly-over. (I am a recovering fearful-flyer.)
Today, I saw, quite simply, the biggest plane I've ever seen. That's not saying much as I'm barely an aviation hobbyist. Nevertheless...
Since I'm a paid member of airliners.net, I posted a message to the forum. "Yow! What Was That Thing?" True to form, the members (made up of some amazing people, both professionals and fans) responded quickly with the type of plane, the airliner, and the actual flight track.
It was flown by Polet non-stop from Frankfurt, Germany to Houston, TX, USA. That's 4493 nautical miles in 11 hours. So, yeah, you need a big plane. Meet the Antinov 124.
